Make the Road NJ - Father's Day Message

In late May, undercover ICE officers detained two members of Make the Road New Jersey - fathers and residents of Elizabeth - while they drove to work. When they couldn't produce valid identification, ICE took their fingerprints and detained them. Thankfully, one of our members was released to his wife and three U.S. citizen children on bond. We are devastated to announce that another member, Humberto, was deported. Our members are fathers and cherished members of our community. They have fought for the rights of their neighbors to earn a living wage and to live without fear of ICE. No one should be deported and separated from their family just for driving to work.

Every day we wait, more families will be separated, our state loses thousands in potential revenue, and our roads are less safe.
