2 • 12:00pm-12:45pm pond clean-up • Arelís Hernandez/Newark Center for Meditative Culture
3 • 12:45pm-1:00pm urban deep-eco talk • Andrea Lee/Newark Center for Meditative Culture
+ • Picnic after, weather providing • Provided by Rabbit Hole Urban Farm.

Why are we doing this? We want our kids, let alone ourselves, to wake up to what’s necessary to take care of our planet and then to act on it. To start off with, to become one with nature. And why not, since we are also nature? This means more outdoor time in urban parks to begin to understand and experience “soft fascinations” that only exploring in nature can bring. This is in comparison to the “harsh stimuli” of the city that can cause cognitive overload. It takes time, effort, and will to get out in nature. It also requires mindful energy and muscle to be able to make changes and improve our environment. Then there’s deep listening — listening to and observing ourselves, others, and our environment in order to remove our illusion of separation. Deep listening means to also educate ourselves so that we can become a useful resource. Finally, let’s not forget how important it is to have like-minded eco-homeys to support each other. We hope you and your kids or teen group will be able to join us for this program.
