New Jersey Senate Budget Hearing - Newark

  • Rutgers University - Newark 15 Washington Street New York, NY, 10014 United States (map)

"In New Jersey, access to reproductive health care is at risk.  In 2010, funding for family planning services was eliminated from the state budget.  Now, the number of cases of bacterial STDs are up 35 percent statewide.  Cases of breast and cervical cancer are up 5.2 percent among all New Jersey women, 6.6 percent among Black women, and an alarming 25.1 percent among Latinas.  And more than 435,000 women are in need of publicly funded contraception, a 5 percent increase since 2010.

This March, members of the Senate and Assembly Budget Committees will be taking public comment and listening to the concerns of New Jersey residents.  These legislators are the individuals who make the decision about whether or not to include family planning services in the state budget.  It's time to reverse these concerning trends and reinvest in family planning funding for all New Jersey women, men, families, and young people, so that access to care doesn't depend on a person's income or zip code.

Please note - there is no set end time for this hearing, as the hearing will end when all comments have been heard. Supporters will receive more detailed information prior to the hearing.
