Suffragists Speak: Race, Slavery and the Fight for the Vote

Film (6:30) and Discussion on Zoom (7:30) hosted by the Monmouth County Library. The film and discussion will be conducted on Zoom and are free of charge. View a video performance of an original stage-reading that tells the story of how race and the legacy of slavery played out in the fight for the vote. The film will be followed by a discussion of suffrage and voting rights, led by members of the Suffragists Speak cast. Although the discussion will reference the material in the video, participants do not need to view the film prior to the discussion to participate. The film will be available to view following the program via the Library's YouTube Channel.
