Living HERstory: NJ Women of Color Making History

n honor of Women’s History Month, Livingston Justice and the League of Women Voters of Livingston are partnering to present a panel discussion featuring NJ women in leadership who are “firsts” in their elected positions.

• Sadaf Jaffer, first woman of South Asian descent to serve as mayor of a town in New Jersey, and the first Muslim woman to serve as a mayor in the United States.
• Edina Brown, the first African American and woman to serve on the Old Bridge Town Council
• Vanessa Falco, the first African American woman to serve on the Hoboken City Council
• Vineeta Khanna, the first person of South Asian descent to serve on the Livingston Board of Education
• Jasmine Story, the first African American woman to serve on the Eatontown Town Council

In a discussion moderated by Jenissa Arnette of Livingston Justice and Jennette Williams of the League of Women Voters, these women will share their thoughts on their experiences pursuing and holding these leadership roles, as well as their thoughts on the future for women in leadership.
