More people live in Monmouth County (620,000) than in the state of Wyoming (580,000). Running the County is a big job, one we typically know little about. Here's our chance to correct that.

Understand how county government affects our safety, health, quality of life, and pocketbook. Join us to hear Monmouth County Administrator Teri O’Connor explain everything we didn’t know we needed to know about county government.

The five-member Monmouth County Board of Commissioners (formerly Freeholders) oversees 388 miles of roads, 1,000 bridges, 15,000 acres of county parks, and the largest circulating library in the state. The county delivers emergency management, property tax assessment, Brookdale Community College, recycling/solid waste management facilities, vocational education, and more. It’s at the county level that we handle elections—including registration, voting machines, vote-by-mail ballots, vote-counting, and election certification. Its public health responsibilities include COVID testing and vaccine programs.
