Share your family's history to celebrate the opening of Red Bank’s T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center.
The foundation is continuing Fortune’s work by expanding and diversifying the historical record of communities of color in Red Bank and Monmouth County.
Community members are invited to select photos or other two-dimensional items (programs, flyers, articles) that represent milestones in their family history and bring them to the Red Bank Library, on Wednesday August 16th between 6:30 and 8:30 PM.
Volunteers with the Cultural Center will digitally capture (scan) your items and gather key information about them and about your family. At that time, the volunteers will also request permission to share your items and your verbal input with the public.
TTF is also seeking materials and information related to the African American business community, along with churches, social and civil rights organizations. (Photos that are visibly located in Monmouth County are especially helpful.)
For more information or to schedule a separate meeting with the TTF Community Heritage Project Manager, contact: sarah.klepner@gmail.com. Sarah will review your family heirlooms, memorabilia, pictures, letters and programs.
