Campaign launch - New NJ Prophetic Agenda

  • Trinity Episcopal Cathedral 801 East State Street Trenton, NJ, 08609 United States (map)

The national movement to revive Dr. King's Poor People's Campaign (https://poorpeoplescampaign.org) is gaining momentum and coming to New Jersey as multiracial, cross-class, interfaith coalition of clergy and lay leaders, as well as academics and progressive advocates under the banner of the New NJ Prophetic Agenda.

The NJ campaign launches this Sunday, Jan. 21st from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Trenton (Rev. Charles Boyer will keynote).

Event organizers are "calling for ALL people of conscience to come together to eradicate the intersecting evils of racism, poverty, militarism, ecological devastation and our nation's distorted moral core. Rev. Dr. King started`The Poor People's Campaign' before his death in 1968, focusing on the right for everyone in this country to earn a living wage with dignity. Today, 50 years later, the NEW Poor People's Campaign will further that work, placing front and center the people most impacted by destructive policies--- people of color, immigrants, the poor, the sick, the abandoned. As these policies are often enacted at the state level, the launch of the New Poor People's Movement in New Jersey will be focused on Trenton."
