Hashim Garrett is a nationally acclaimed anti-violence educator and consultant. As a survivor of gang-related gun violence, Garrett has a powerful message of refusing retaliation and choosing forgiveness. His practice of forgiveness has led him to work closely with the Guardian Angels and "Breaking the Cycle"-- an award-winning conflict resolution program. He has a passion for reaching youth and shares his message of nonviolence with students in the Elizabeth Public School System and diverse audiences throughout the state. His peacemaking work embodies King's message of peace and justice for the hip hop generation."
