"On March 21st, let's come together in solidarity and for 24 hours not spend a single dollar. Our dollars are our votes. We have voices in America. 

It's time that American Latinos send a clear message to the U.S. Government and the current President: You are not America. You work for the American people. ALL OF US. 

If you are a Hispanic person in the United States right now there's a good chance that you're feeling powerless. Maybe you're wondering what's in store for you, your family, your friends and loved ones. Maybe you fear that a wall is already being built between you and the rest of America. We can't wallow in these feelings of anxiety and fear but we certaintly shouldn't ignore them. 

Our culture, regardless of where your Latin roots originate, is linked by our common loyalty to our family and our sense of community. If there's anything Latinos know well, it's that there is power in numbers. And we have the numbers: 

Hispanics are the largest U.S. Minority Group (50.5 million Hispanics. 16.3% of the total population in 2010). 

Hispanics are the fastest-growing U.S. population. (From 2010 to 2020 the Hispanic population will grow by 16.6 million people to a total of 66.3 million). 

Hispanics in the United States can be considered a "country within a country." Our population when combined is larger than any Spanish-speaking country except Mexico. 

And here is where that translates to the kind of power that the current government will understand: 
In 2015, Hispanics controlled $1.3 trillion dollars in spending power. By 2019, this number will rise to $1.7 trillion dollars. 

As Hispanics become increasingly educated and attain higher paying jobs with each successive generation, their spending power continues to grow. By 2020, Hispanic spending will exceed the shopping totals of millenials. 

Our message is clear. Hispanics have tremendous spending influence in the United States and when we use our collective power we can affect the economy. That power is only going to grow. The government can either choose to take our interests into account or they won't have our dollars and when they're up for re-election, they won't have our votes. 

We will continue to participate in spending free days until our message is received. Get your wallet ready. Make them earn it.

El 21 de marzo, vamos a unirnos en solidaridad y por 24 horas no gastaremos un solo dólar. Tenemos dólares. Tenemos votos. Tenemos voces en América.

Es hora de que los Latinos Americanos envíen un mensaje claro al Gobierno de los Estados Unidos y al Presidente actual: Ustedes no son los Estados Unidos. Trabajan para el pueblo estadounidense. TODOS NOSOTROS.

Si usted es una persona hispana en los Estados Unidos en este momento hay una buena probabilidad de que se sienta impotente. Tal vez usted se está preguntando qué pasara en el futuro para usted, su familia, sus amigos y seres queridos. Tal vez usted teme que una pared ya se está construyendo entre usted y el resto de América. No podemos vacilar en estos sentimientos de ansiedad y miedo, pero tampoco debemos ignorarlos.

Nuestra cultura, independientemente de dónde se originen sus raíces latinas, está ligada por nuestra común lealtad a nuestra familia y nuestro sentido de comunidad. Si hay algo que los latinos conocen bien, es que hay poder en números. Y tenemos los números:

Los hispanos son el grupo minoritario más grande de los Estados Unidos (50.5 millones de hispanos, 16.3% de la población total en 2010).

Los hispanos son la población de Estados Unidos que más crece. (De 2010 a 2020 la población hispana crecerá en 16.6 millones de personas a un total de 66.3 millones).

Los hispanos en los Estados Unidos pueden ser considerados un "país dentro de un país". Nuestra población cuando se combina es más grande que cualquier país de habla hispana excepto México.

Y aquí es donde esto se traduce en el tipo de poder que el gobierno actual entenderá:
En 2015, los hispanos controlaron $ 1.3 billones de dólares en poder adquisitivo. Para 2019, este número se elevará a $ 1.7 billones de dólares.

A medida que los hispanos se hacen cada vez más educados y logran empleos con salarios más altos con cada generación sucesiva, su poder adquisitivo continúa creciendo. Para 2020, el gasto hispano superará el total de compras de milenios.

Nuestro mensaje es claro. Los hispanos tienen una tremenda influencia en el gasto en los Estados Unidos y cuando usamos nuestro poder colectivo podemos afectar la economía. Ese poder sólo va a crecer. El gobierno puede optar por tener en cuenta nuestros intereses o no tendrá nuestros dólares.

Continuaremos participando en estos días libres de gastos hasta que nuestro mensaje sea recibido. Tenga su billetera lista.
